October 21st Lapping Day pics

A special thanks goes to Pat Cyr for making an extra event happen at what might otherwise have been a ‘That’s all, folks!’ Post.

CASC-OR Board Positions

There are quite a few CASC-OR Board positions up for election this year. If you are interested in getting more involved please either contact a current Board member, or feel free to reach out to me directly.

  • Treasurer – Anne McCallum has agreed to stay on for another term, but will be pleased if someone else would like to “give it a try”.
  • Vice President – the Vice President’s role is changing. I’d like someone in the position that is ready, willing and able to take over should the President (me) need to reduce their time commitment.
  • Division Directors for Race, Autoslalom, and Karting are available. The existing Directors have served multiple terms and do not intend to stay on.

CASC-OR is made up of 30+ motorsport clubs with well over 2,000 active members. For the organization to continue to flourish we need enthusiastic participation at all levels of motorsport, but critically we need an active Board of Directors to lead the way. Have you got what it takes to step up?

October Social: good times had by all

It was SRO (standing room only) at the Loyal Oarsman Thursday as October saw the return of our social outings.  For many it was a case of ‘long time no see’ as folks squeezed their way into the backroom area of the pub.

The gathering echoed to the sound of cheers and much clinking of glasses as the faithful celebrated the many contributions made over the season by members new and old alike.  What a great way to celebrate 70 years!  And the best part?  There’s more where this came from.

October 21st lapping at SMP !!!

ST LAC is excited to announce a Fall surprise.  The Club has confirmed the rental of the Pro track for next Saturday, the 21st, at Shannonville.
The format will be very similar to our St Lap evenings so we will be running a race group, and two street car groups.   The event will be marshalled  to enhance your safety while on track.
Registration is first come first serve. The cost is $150.00 for the day.  Please send your payment asap to the club at: paymentstlac@gmail.com
  • We can accept cash during registration.
  • Registration opens at 8:00am.
  • Drivers meeting at 8:30am.
  • On track for 9:00am.
  • Open to members and non-members so bring your friends!

Everyone MUST sign the SpeedWaiver and show the completed waiver at registration to go on track. A QR code will be posted at registration.

However, we will encourage any new comers to join us for next season’s membership.  Thanks again to Pat who’s enthusiasm for a last minute event has brought the event to fruition.   So spread the word as our best support comes from within our ranks… hope to see many of you in a week’s time

…all the best DC

Last chance for lapping?

We are looking to judge interest for one last lapping day of the year.  We are in discussion with SMP about upcoming available weekend days.  If there is enough interest we’ll pull the trigger and book the day.

No poll this time – just send an email if you are interested.

Dan.

Fall Update: Wing Nights are Back!

Hello St Lac Members!

Wow , it is hard to believe it’s almost Thanksgiving as the warm weather has me totally confused, at least more than normal. Please mark Oct 26th and Nov 23rd in your calendars as we will once again be getting together for Wing Nights at the Loyal Oarsman from 6-9pm. For the new members these get-togethers are a great way to meet fellow gearheads, eat some free appies and meet new friends. Last spring we were averaging 25 people per evening so we are hoping to continue that trend this fall and through to the spring of 2024.

Once again your executive is working on the fall questionnaire to be sent out some time next month to survey the full membership.

The loss of the Picton venue has changed the playing field for the club considerably. Not just in terms of revenue but also from a historical standpoint as the airfield was a true gem for autocross. It’s a tough act to follow but based on our initial karting event we may have found a fun new activity to offset the Picton loss. So we are busy trying to configure a spring and fall karting schedule along with expanding our lapping events at SMP for 2024, in addition to joining forces with several smaller clubs to offset the risk/costs of a full lapping day. Dan is also working behind the scenes to locate an autocross venue in the area so hopefully by next summer we’ll have a venue to continue our grass roots traditions as a club avoiding those pesky orange cones. Lastly, the CRX is now very close to paint so thank you again to all the volunteers who helped with it this summer.

I am looking forward to seeing all the regulars, and hopefully some new members, later in the month – all the best DC
