CRX workshop: Hello St Lac members, well the dog days of summer are upon us and I for one tend to freak out more than usual with all the tasks at hand as the weather cools down. Thank goodness the humidity we had earlier in the week has passed as trying to accomplish anything outside was grim… on that note Saturday’s weather looks decent, so we are going to take another kick at the can for getting the crx into primer. If your labour day weekend isn’t booked please rsvp me if you can come and help sand all the various parts and panels in preparation for the top coat of polyurethane paint , We put a good dent in the prep work several weeks ago but there is still a bunch of grunt work to do. So, if you are free Saturday afternoon from 1-4 please come and join us for a laugh or two and a cold one.
August 24th ST LAP III: Last week’s lapping session ran very smoothly despite the shorter day length and next week’s event on the 8th will be similar. Fortunately we were able to get onto the track at 5:30 so that helped allow three sessions for all three run groups. We had an assortment of race cars from a TVR gran ventura right up to a wickedly fast street legal corvette that has competed in 1lap in the USA.. Our goal next year is to fill the grandstand with spectators as we put on a great free show. So even if you are not a pass holder, come out and mingle and grab a hot dog from the canteen and “shoot the shit “with some old buddies and fellow gear heads. You might even get a ride along as we have loner helmets on hand and many drivers willing to take passengers out for a rip.
Auto Biographies: Lastly, we are working on a new feature for the website to allow any of you to upload your auto bio’s. We have such an array of talented drivers that we would like to profile and I am hoping many of the racers can provide a summary of their past year’s on track activities. With just two regional CASC race weekends left there are several stand outs – namely our young American F1600 racer from california, William Ferguson, who is leading the points race in the very competitive Toyo Tires open wheel series and Pat Cyr who is going into the last two weekends of racing with the lead in the GT2 class despite competing against several racers who should by all rights be running in to the GT1 category. I know we all like to keep to ourselves as car introverts but the whole point of the club is to provide a fraternity of similar minded petrol heads so I hope many of you will take a few minutes and fill in your profiles (past and present) once we get this up and running over the next few weeks. If nothing else take a picture of your car and let us know why you support the club so we can share the success we have as an organization that is turning 70 years old.
All the best and have a safe labour day if you are travelling – DC
