There are many ways to get involved with rallysport – navigational rallies, performance rallies and rally cross. Or volunteer at any of the events; some performance events have over 200 volunteers helping! Being a volunteer at the performance events can get you up close to the action, and gives you insight into how the events run. Interested in exploring the province? Helping at a navigational rally will take you to some places you never imagined.

Or just jump in to Navigational (or TSD) rallies. They’re the cheapest and easiest way to get started. A regular road-worthy vehicle (car, pickup truck, minivan), a willing partner, some basic tools (calculator, digital timepiece, pencils) and you’re on your way. There’s always a basic introduction before every rally.

Performance rallies require more of an investment, but the rewards are great! Two people working together to go as fast as they can on a closed road.

Rallycross lets you get a taste of performance rallying at a fraction of the cost. Take your daily driver, plop on a helmet, and have a go at a short dirt and gravel course.

Open Invitation: KT Chorus- Special Guest Nights

Everyone knows that automobile enthusiasts have great pipes and now you’re invited to share them with a Kingston group.

I’m reaching out on behalf of the Kingston Townsmen Chorus, in hopes that you may be able to help us.

We’re an A Cappella men’s chorus with members of all ages that sing primarily in the Barbershop style. The chorus is deeply integrated into Kingston’s music culture and throughout Ontario. We’ve performed for audiences of all sizes –  from venues as large as concert halls to smaller, intimate settings like nursing homes and retirement residences. We deliver Singing Valentines, hold public appearances, conduct fundraisers and in general just have fun performing whenever and wherever we can.

We are holding a special series of free-to-public open house guest nights 7-9:30pm Monday nights from October 28 to November 18, where male singer participants are invited to sing with us for fun, learn our unique choral style of music, and receive expert-level voice coaching. After the rehearsals are finished, they are also given the opportunity to join us on November 29 as we perform the National Anthem at the Kingston Frontenacs vs North Bay Battalion hockey game.

We would like to formally invite all interested parties within your membership out to these fun gatherings, assuming there’s no conflict with your own activities and schedules. Would it be possible for you to spread the word for us? We would just require that they RSVP to or 613-777-8188 as soon as possible (and no later than October 26).

And if you want to practice…

When singing in the car isn’t enough, here’s the Carpool Karaoke mic

Karaoke machine company partners with celebrity sing-along show to make it even easier to embarrass yourself in traffic

If you’ve ever had a burning desire to be part of James Corden’s “Carpool Karaoke,” now’s your chance.

Karaoke company Singing Machine has partnered with CBS on the Carpool Karaoke The Mic to let you blast out your favourites in the car.

The karaoke segments, which appear on The Late Late Show with James Corden, have featured such celebrities as Celine Dion, Justin Bieber, Elton John, Bruno Mars and Michelle Obama, among many others, singing along with Corden in the car.

The microphones debuted earlier this year at the New York Toy Fair trade show and will go on sale this summer for US$49.99.

The microphone connects to the vehicle’s FM tuner with a cord or wirelessly, and allows the audio to stream from any music app. It uses a rechargeable battery and its lights flash in sync with the song.  Okay, okay so this isn’t exactly A Cappella but if you sing like I do you’ll need all the help you can get.  Anybody want to hear my rendition of a-gadda-da-vida?

This is why one joins an auto club :)

Take a trip into the past and the names of Luck and Green might come to mind.  While the former was a member (and founder) of St LAC, the two later combined efforts to create what is now known as CASC.  And it was the son of Mr. Green who contacted our club seeking help in securing a parts list and additional how-to information to assist with the reconstruction of a Weber carb for his custom Porsche 356.

After securing the help he needed this former sponsor told me that our efforts went a long way to assuaging the worn-down and frazzled feelings of someone who paid $18,000 US to have a motor brought back to life only to find that something wasn’t right.  He now knows what a venturi is and how to replace it in the aforementioned carburetor.  Ain’t club-life grand?!
