Welcome to the information section for our 13th Annual "Judy Brunner Memorial Slalom" which, this year, is the third round of the 2011 CASC-OR Provincial Championship series. The event honours one of St. LAC's most successful solo drivers who in the late 60's, 70's and early 80's won numerous Ladies and Men's Championships both in National, Ontario Region and SCCA events in a Lotus Cortina. She unfortunately passed away in 1998 due to lung failure. For more information on Judy, please refer to the link Tribute to Judy Brunner.

The event takes place on Sunday, May 29th at the Picton Air Field and is run in conjunction with the Sports Performance Drivers Association (SPDA) as a double-header weekend with SPDA hosting the Saturday competition. Refer to their information at SPDA-online.ca. We will be providing Saturday overnight security so competition cars and rigs can be left at the airfield. Unfortunately, camping on site is not allowed by local by-laws. Information on accommodation is mentioned below.

As the airport was designed for the heavier demands of bomber training during WWII, the foundation and surface have survived quite well. Moreover, there is a certain "ambiance" about the place with all the old hangers and military camp buildings. Many stories to be told! A brief history of the airfield is at History of the Picton Air Field.

DIRECTIONS TO PICTON AIRPORT: The Picton airport is located just a couple of minutes south of the town of Picton, Ontario. The town of Picton is located in the heart of Prince Edward County, Ontario's only island county. Picton is located in the golden triangle, 2 hours east of Toronto, 2 hours south west of Ottawa and 45 minutes west of Kingston. Surrounded by some 100km of beautiful Lake Ontario shoreline, Prince Edward County is one of Canada's most picturesque locations. Charming towns and cozy B&Bs abound in this historical tourist destination. These directions give a route with the smallest gradient for towing.

DIRECT ROUTE AND LOCATIONS EAST OF PICTON: To reach the town of Picton traveling on highway 401, take exit 566 south (Highway 49) and follow the signs to Picton. At the end of the main area of downtown PICTON (at the liquor store), bare left onto Route 10. A couple of Kms later, turn left onto Route 22. Enter at second gate on right.

SCENIC ROUTE FROM WEST OF PICTON: To reach the town of Picton traveling from the west on highway 401, take exit 525 south (Highway 33, Loyalist Parkway) and follow the signs to Picton. Before entering PICTON right turn onto Route 1. T-Right onto Route 10 and immediate left onto Route 22. Enter at second gate on right.

The air field has been used for scenes in many Movie and TV shows with The Discovery Channel TV series "Canada's Worst Driver" being one of the most recent. Incidentally, the OPP and RCMP conduct some of their high-speed car training on the same airfield sections that we will be using.

Picton is located in Prince Edward County, which is a beautiful tourist area and is rapidly developing a significant wine making industry due to its unique ecology. If you are entering both events and consequently staying over the weekend, many hotels/motels are available in the area. Information on the Picton area can be found at http://www.pec.on.ca/picton.

St. LAC club members Gail and Vince Murray, who operate Sunset Shores in the nearby Cherry Valley area, have some cabins available as well as a trailer park and an area for overnight camping. Their site is close to the track and they can be contacted at (613) 476-4512. They will be offering a 10% discount to any competitors and crew for the weekend.

We have arranged for a Picton caterer to be on site from 10 AM to 2 PM to serve you with coffee, drinks, soup and special sandwiches.

Entry fee for the St. LAC event will be $ 35.  The event will not stop for lunch to ensure our target of 6 to 7 official runs (TBD).  The catering truck is on hand to supply you with drinks and food at your convenience.

As in previous years, portable toilets (with water) will be on site.

The philosophy of St. LAC is for you to have an enjoyable day on a good flowing course that allows both fast and challenging sections. However, we do have some supplementary regulations that are unique to us and they can be viewed at Supplementary Regulations.

Timing for the event is: (enter the air field at the yellow-painted western gate). Please note that this year Start and Finish are at the westerly end of the air field near the Flying Club Building with the Paddock area in front of the hangers.

0800:  Registration is at the White Race Car Trailer.  You should be able to walk the course soon after.
0930: Driver’s Meeting and Registration closes
0945: First-car-away

Dash plaques for the St. LAC event are also available upon request. (Refer to link Past Dash Plaques to view all the previous dash plaques).

Hope to see you at Picton!
